Centre Director

 

Jon Evans is passionate about outdoor learning. He has a degree in outdoor education and a PGCE Masters Degree. Jon has a range of safety and training qualifications including Level 3 Safeguarding and the Mountain Instructor Award. Jon has been a member of Devon Cave Rescue for the over 10 years and is also a Governor of a Secondary Academy. 


Centre Manager

Steve McIlhenny has a broad range of experience and qualifications in the Residential Centre sector. Steve grew up in Nepal and has led a number of international projects, including pioneering a project in Burundi for young people in acute need. Steve studied Geo-science at St Andrews University. 


Outdoor Education Managers


Dr Roger Hopper is a qualified teacher and founder of the National Outdoor Learning Award (NOLA). Roger has lectured for Marjon University, been head of Outdoor Education at Courtlands Special School and Devon County Council's 'Voyager PRU'. Roger regularly provides leadership training courses and management consultation workshops. Roger is also an Outdoor Education author and trainer on 'Behaviour Management' in the outdoor environment.

Rob Sheffield (Dip Ed) is an Outdoor Learner teacher who holds the following National Governing Body awards: APIOL, Mountain Leader, Single Pitch Award, L2 Canoe/kayak, Cave Leader, First Aid, GNAS archery, Mountain Bike Leader and Gofence award. 





Tim Stephens (Dip Ed) is an Outdoor Learner teacher who holds the following National Governing Body awards: APIOL, ML, SPA, L2 Canoe/kayak, Cave Leader, First Aid, GNAS archery, Mountain Bike Leader and Gofence award.





Simon Plumley holds the following National Governing Body awards: APIOL, Forest School Leader, Degree in Countryside Management,  ML, CWA, First Aid, GNAS archery, Mountain Bike Leader and Gofence award.

The team is led by the Centre Manager in delivering quality Outdoor Education, Hospitality and Catering.
